Sindoor and Agnya Chakra
or
medullary plexus:
Sindoor is a highly sacred object in Hinduism but Sindoor in the market is poisonous chemical of lead. The true Sindoor is vermilion – elixirs of alchemists, which activates the pituitary and pineal gland, so that the body and mind of our married women function better.
*This is the dot most of the Hindus have at the eye-brow
junction. This could be of sandal or red kumkum or a mix
of both, sacred Ash or Vibhuti . This junction is one of
the very significant chakra, called in spiritual terms
AGYA chakra or medullary plexus. This is a very sensitive point. So the tilaka is kept at this point.
Lord Siva has a third eye at the Brumadhya. When he
opens the third eye, the three worlds are destroyed. So
also, when the third eye of the Jiva is opened, the
three kinds of afflictions - Adhyatmika, Adhidaivika and
Adhibhautika- are burnt to ashes. The three Karmas-
Sanchita, Prarabdha and Agami,- and also all the sins
committed in the countless previous births, are burnt.
When you apply the Tilak, you mentally imagine: "I am
the one non-dual Brahman free from all duality. May my
eye of intuition open soon." You should remember this
every time you apply a Tilak. Without the
Tilak,Sandhya,Pooja,Deva Darshan,Tarpan and other
religious activities should not be performed.
Traditionally, the bindi is worn on the forehead of
married Hindu women. It symbolizes female energy and is
believed to protect women and their husbands. Bindis are
traditionally a simple mark made with the paste of
colored sandalwood, sindoor or turmeric. The bindi is
most commonly a red dot made with vermilion.
In addition, the bindi is a way of accentuating the
third eye, the area between the eyebrows where attention
is focused during meditation. Now a days we get stickers
of all colors, sizes and shapes, very fancy ones also.
Traditionally it used to be red color. It is used by
married women to distinguish them from unmarried ones.
in
India they use other things also to indicate that this
woman is married eg toe rings, anklets, glass bangles.
In south India married women always wear flowers in
their hair.
All these things have scientific reason also..
According to our yoga science there are seven energy
centers in the body…the lowest one above the anus is
called Mooladhar Chakra…it is the center of brutal
strength and sex. The bindi they put on the agya chakra
draws vibrations of power from the universe and gives
virtue and power to the woman to run her household with
patience, love, understanding, forgiveness….It also
denotes the energy and tej (nearest meaning is
brightness) of the sun.
Because they believe that Grahastha ashram (householder
stage) is the greatest ashram where man and women enter
wedlock to beget children, raise them to responsible
citizens, also look after old parents and serve the
society and unprivileged, give charity for the poor and
also the monks…The duties are greatest at this stage of
life so the woman stands like pillar of strength with
the husband and gives him power and cooperation to face
everything…for this she draws energy from her
inner self
and the universe…hence the red spot..
The bangles, anklets and toe rings have acupressure
purpose, they press certain nerves in that area which
keeps the reproductive system healthy and in balance..
This is also the symbol of rising sun which resides in
agyna chakra. It protects the body from evil energy to
enter the body. Similarly Sahasrara is preserved by a
crown or hat. Actually Tilak is made over every chakra to
open them. For normal people and ladies agyna chakra is
most impotent because when it opens, it open up all the
chakra and body attains Samadhi.
